When people are unhappy in a relationship, it affects all aspects of their lives. Whether the pain is caused by infidelity, verbal wounds, substance use, dishonesty, or poor communication skills does not matter - people feel unsettled and preoccupied resulting in poorer performance at work and as a parent or increased use of destructive coping behaviors (food, pornography, alcohol, prescription drugs, drugs, spending, workaholism, etc.).
I am a Certified Gottman Therapist and am listed on the Gottman Referral Network This means that I have completed Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Gottman Method Training series, have completed over 100 hours of couples therapy, have worked with a consultant who reviewed videos of my sessions, and have passed the GTI exam. I welcome couples wanting to improve their relationships using this approach.
Here is a video showing me doing couples therapy using telemental health. https://youtu.be/UUVAIesIgdE
Some couples prefer to work with a male therapist. My associate, Dr. Dan Reiff, who is also my husband, is an excellent couples therapist and has also completed training in Gottman Methods Couples Therapy. His website is www.drdanreiff.com and his phone is 206-232-8404.
Please note that many insurance companies do not cover couples therapy. Thus, couples therapy is, unfortunately, often an out of pocket expense.
